Pieces You Need To Be Investing In

One thing you'll notice about this list is that everything is black (except for the white tee). Black is a color that never goes out of style and seamlessly blends from season to season. Pretty much every time I invest in a piece it's black. If you're someone who doesn't love to wear a lot of black, nude is also a great alternative color for an investment piece. An investment piece doesn't necessarily mean expensive, although most of the time they happen to be. It's an item that you're going to wear the hell out of for years and years, that is good quality and will always be on trend. Here are the items that I have been investing in over the years or am planning to:

My most recent investment was these Gucci loafers. I've had my eye on these for awhile and they happen to be super on trend at the moment. What is so great about these is they're a formal shoe that also looks kickass casual. I can wear them to a professional meeting or even with some cuffed jeans out to brunch with friends.

Every blogger on earth when asked, "What is a great investment piece?", almost always says a black leather jacket. Leather jackets have been in style for literally ever, but make sure to buy one that is going to grow with your style. I decided to invest in this IRO one last year and I've gotten tremendous use out of it since. When picking out the leather jacket for you, I recommend going with a super classic look that doesn't have much going on (such as patterns or embroidering).

This brings me to a staple winter jacket. If you live in a place where you have freezing winters like I do in NYC, investing in a warm and durable winter jacket is a must. Or else you'll most likely be buying a new jacket every year, which is stupid if you ask me, when you can be investing in one that will last you years. I absolutely love Moncler jackets, they never seem to go out of style AND they're extremely warm.

Black jeans that fit you right are a must, no matter your shape or size. I would say they are the most flattering color in jeans that one can wear, they are slimming and make your legs look longer. I have this pair of J-Brand jeans and they are my go-to pair for both formal and informal occasions, plus they match everything.

Everyone loves a good pair of sunglasses for sunnier days or even just as an accessory. There are so many awesome styles of cheaper sunglasses out there that are fun to mix with different outfits, but I definitely recommend investing in at least one pricier pair that is well made and flatter the shape of your face. Some sunglasses can be so expensive so that is why Ray-Ban's are a good brand to always invest in. They're durable and come in so many different styles, I've had my Ray-Ban aviator's for at least 5 years now.

A well made plain white tee will be your forever best friend. I buy all of my classic and fun black and white tee's from LNA. They go with anything and everything, always & forever. I promise.

A tote bag is always a great staple to have in your closet, whether you're a student or for work, us girls always so much stuff we carry around on us. A good tote is guaranteed to fit all of your needs and add to your outfit. I've been using my Louis Vuitton "Neverfull" bag for so long and it is a total life saver, but now I'm looking to invest in this more versatile YSL tote that looks more professional and can still fit my life in it.

Last but not least, every power woman needs a kickass pair of heels. You cannot go wrong with the Christian Louboutin "So Kate" pump. They are perfect for business and any formal event you need to attend, plus they match EVERYTHING. For these I definitely recommend getting black or nude, trust me they're going to be your go to shoe for any event where a dress or a pantsuit is required AND they'll make you feel sexy as hell.
